4/13 Update From The Board

“OK, so it’s been a bit since we updated everyone but after our April 7th meeting, we've got a rough schedule of events outlined for the club for 2022. Unfortunately, the company we've used for shooting our July 3rd fireworks display is already booked for another display that day and our only options would be to reschedule to possibly Friday, July 1st, and promote an underfunded event or go in the direction we are which is to rebuild the club membership, interest, and fun events for club members, while hosting events open to all culminating the summer with the return of the drag boat races set for August 27th. This will be a rebuilding year for the club, both to increase membership, interest, and awareness of the club and its benefits to members and the public. We plan to host a monthly beach party in June, July, and August along with a harbor party on July 3rd and a steak fry at the clubhouse in September. It’s long been said that you get your money's worth from the membership dues just from the steak fry meal, and we hope to prove that tradition right again this year.

The club suffered from severe restrictions from the 2020 pandemic and further from the derecho affecting so many members along with the community the same year, which continued with uncertainty in hosting social activities into 2021. We again want to thank the board members who served during that period and held the club together despite the inactivity caused by nature and a global pandemic.

The club elected new board members this year with one remaining in his term from previous years: Brian Halstead, Chad Hutchcroft, Andrew Balsanek, Jody Bowers, Brent Fountain, and Kevin Curl. As stated above this will be a year to rebuild the club, and we will be accepting membership dues online and/or in person. Our next (first) event of 2022 will be a fundraiser at The Double Z Bar & Grill Saturday, April 23rd, 1-7 pm featuring live entertainment by Jeff Mattison and Chad Johnson and a live auction, raffles, and drink specials throughout the event. A Facebook event has been created on the CBC page, please plan to attend and invite your friends!

Our ultimate goal for this year is to revive interest in the club and fundraise as much as possible for one of the biggest July 3rd displays we've ever shot for 2023...we are eager to show this city how proud this club is to have been serving the community in promoting free family-fun events on the Cedar River since 1948.”
